Thanks to a great site called what-if.xkcd.com for this little gem.  It used to be said that the British Empire was "The empire on which the sun never set".  The point being that at all times it was daytime somewhere in the Empire.  Well, the Empire is long gone, but apparently the saying is still true, if only just.  What is left of the old Empire is still sufficiently scattered around the globe that it is always daylight somewhere.
